Seeking to ENGAGE, UUJEC-NW... Seeking to EDUCATE, UUJEC-NW... Seeking to ACTIVATE, UUJEC-NW...
Challenges UUs to honor our individual and collective responsibility in creating economic structures that serve the common good.

    This includes our efforts to:
  • Promote dialogues in congregations throughout the Northwest on living our values through our economic choices.
  • Reach out and make our work known to congregations through worship services whose theme is economic justice.
  • Sustain on-going communication and direct support to all of the district’s congregations.
  • Help develop peer-to-peer relationships between congregations and encourage congregations to act as resources to each other.
Supports UUs in learning about who benefits and who pays in the global economy and ways for UUs to take part in acting for economic justice

    This includes our efforts to:
  • Develop and share resources based on UUJEC’s integrated study/action/reflection model.
  • Sponsor conferences and workshops with spiritually-engaged speakers who are knowledgeable on issues of economic justice.
  • Publish bi-monthly e-bulletins, providing news and items of interest on economic justice developments in our congregations, communities and the world-at-large.
  • Provide resources in response to congregations’ interests in studying different economic justice issues.
Organizes UUs to work for systemic change through witnessing, analysis/research, advocacy, social service, and sustainable living.

    This includes our efforts to:
  • Issue action alerts to generate momentum around critical issues.
  • Compile and produce the Economic Justice Resource Directory that serves as a practical guide to UUJEC-NW’s learning network and the economic justice work of our congregations.
  • Expand support for activist engagement through our web site.
  • Collaborate with interfaith and justice organizations in the work of economic justice.

About Us

The Pacific Northwest Chapter of UUJEC formed in 1999 under the initiative of Rev. Lucy Hitchcock-Seck to take action on injustices raised during the now legendary Battle in Seattle WTO ministerial. The new chapter merged with the Promise Washington’s Children State Network.

The Chapter has grown rapidly, providing national leadership on the issue of Economic Globalization and building a network of economic justice activists in our district's congregations. UUJEC-NW provides a forum for UUs committed to exploring how together we can – in the words of the 2003 UUA Statement of Conscience on Economic Globalization – “help create economic structures designed to serve the common good”.

Communicating With Us

There are three options for receiving news and updates. One is this web site. The second option, UUJEC-NW’s bi-monthly e-bulletin (once every two months), provides a regular compendium of news and items of interest on economic justice developments in our congregations, our communities, and the world-at-large. The third option, our email announcement list-serve, is a forum for sharing economic justice news and articles of interest by email on a more frequent basis.
